The underlying structure of many elements has been improved in SYSPRO 7.
A key feature of SYSPRO 7 is that it caters for high volume transaction environments by extending field sizes throughout the product (see Detailed field size changes).
Key field changes include:
Addresses are now handled in a structured manner whereby you can either use the default layout provided (i.e. building, street, city, locality, state, country, zip and geolocation) or you can associate each address line field to an element of your choosing.
You can hide an address line from being displayed on a form, and you can enable a 6.1 compatibility option to display the form as it appeared before SYSPRO 7 (see System-wide Personalization).
You can adjust the presentation length of a key field to restrict the number of characters that can be entered (for numeric fields, this adjusts the number of leading zeroes displayed).
For example, if the customer code is numeric and you enter 1, then this is displayed as 000000000000001 because the customer code can be up to 15-digits. Setting the presentation length to 5 will display 00001 making it much easier to read.
You can adjust the presentation length of a key field using the Set Key Information program.
You can prevent operators from entering invalid or special characters into key fields by running the System-wide Personalization program and enabling the Prevent special characters being entered option. You can then specify which characters are invalid for a key field entry.
A key field can be defined as a data table's unique identifier (e.g. stock code, customer number, company id, etc.).
