Activity Types

You use this program to view and maintain details of activity types within the Contact Management System.

Activity types enable you to identify the source of the activity. For example, you could have an activity type 'email' to record an email query received from the contact.

This program can be accessed by selecting the browse icon at the Activity type field of the Post Activity program when recording an activity against a contact.

Activity Types

Field Description
Select Select this to use the entry currently highlighted in the listview in the corresponding field of another program.
Activity Usage This indicates the activity usage and describes the activity type.
Task Define the activity as a task.

This enables you to define a 'to do' item. Tasks are 'non-calendar' type items.

You can define a due date against each task, as well as set an optional reminder date and time.

In addition, you can define a task status and a percentage complete indicator against each task.

Appointment

Define the activity type as an appointment.

Appointments are 'calendar' type items and enable you to record a future activity. In addition, they provide an optional reminder before the start date and time of the appointment activity.
Meeting Define the activity type as a meeting.

Meetings are 'calendar' type items and enable you to record a future activity. In addition, they provide an optional reminder before the start date and time of the meeting activity.

Other Define the activity as a general type of activity. You typically select this for activities which record historical events. These are 'non-calendar' type items, but a follow up date and time can be defined against them.

Notes and warnings

Email activity type

  • The Email Activity usage type is reserved for the standard 'out of the box' Activities named 'Email sent' and 'Email received' and cannot be assigned to user defined Activity Types.
