Roaming Users is a configuration that allows operators to seamlessly access their documents from any computer on the same network, without losing their desktop settings or preferences. This provides a consistent user experience across different machines.
You activate roaming users by accessing the Windows Registry Editor program and configuring the RoamingUser registry key (e.g. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SYSPRO\e.net solutions) with a string value of 1. A value of 0 indicates that roaming users is switched off.
When you next load SYSPRO, after configuring roaming users, a Roaming User Conversion window is displayed that requires you to indicate whether you want to copy your operator preference files to the roaming folder.
The system will copy all your operator settings and user interface files from the \Base\Settings folder to the roaming user folder (e.g. \Users\OperatorName\AppData\Roaming\SYSPRO\Settings).
Your new roaming profile is only applied when you reload SYSPRO.
Not all files are moved to the roaming user folder. Some files are shared across operators (e.g. ADMPNL.DAT, ADMWIN.DAT, ADMLST.DAT, ADMLFR.DAT) and in a terminal server environment the content is still required by other users.
If you switch off roaming users, files are not copied from the roaming folder back to the \Base\Settings) folder.
