Delivery Routes

You use this program to define and maintain the delivery routes you require for load planning.

You define the default routes to use against your customers (AR Customer Maintenance) and against your warehouses (Warehouse Maintenance) for Supply Chain Transfer orders.

Once you have defined the routes, you use the Browse on Delivery Loads program to define the loads for each route.

Toolbar and menu

Field Value Description
Save   Saves the information you entered for the route.

If you changed an existing route, you are prompted to update all loads on the route.

If you added a new route, you are prompted to add loads to the route according to your selection at the Basis of adding loads setup option (Sales Order Setup) and the Daily frequency and Delivery frequency defined for the route.
Delivery route code   Enter the code of a new route you want to add, or the code of the route you want to maintain.

Delivery Route Maintenance

Field Value Description
Route code   This indicates the code of the route you are currently maintaining.
Route description   This indicates the description for the route code.
Limiting factor   This determines the capacity of the route which is established according to the maximum weight or volume defined against the loads on the route.
  First reached Uses either the total mass of the loads or the total volume of the loads as the limiting factor on this route, depending on which is reached first.

If you select this option, then you need to indicate both the total mass and the total volume available for the route.
Volume Uses the total volume of items delivered in the loads on the route as the limiting factor on this route. If you select this option, then you need to define the total volume available on this route.
Mass Uses the total mass of items delivered in the loads on the route as the limiting factor on this route. If you select this option, then you need to define the total mass available on this route.
Volume   Enter the maximum volume available for the loads on the route. This option is disabled if your Limiting factor is set to Mass.
Mass   Enter the maximum mass available for the loads on the route. This option is disabled if your Limiting factor is set to Volume.
Delivery frequency   Enter the route frequency in days (e.g. enter 7 to indicate that the route is run every 7 days).

The Delivery frequency together with the Daily frequency is used to determine the loads required for each day.

ResultWhen you use the Add more loads option, two loads are created for every third day.
Next delivery date   Enter the date on which the next delivery load must be created on the route.
Daily frequency   Enter the number of times a delivery can be made on this route in a single day (i.e. the number of deliveries per day).
Next daily sequence   This indicates the sequence number to use when creating the next batch of route delivery details for the day.

If more than one daily delivery is defined (i.e. Daily frequency > 1), then the deliveries are sequenced.

Transport   Enter the default transport type that will be used on the route (see Browse on Load Transport). This field can be left blank as the Transport is entered against each load (see Load Details Maintenance).
Transport description   This indicates the description for the default transport type selected in the previous field.
Update all loads   Select this to update all loads not selected on creation of the delivery code.

Notes and warnings

Restrictions and limits

  • At least one route must be defined for the Load Planning system to work.

Deletion considerations

  • You can only delete a route if all its loads are in a status of Complete or there are no loads defined against the route.

    You use the Load Details Maintenance program to maintain the status of a load.

Inserting Application Help

You would typically follow this procedure to display help for the current program in a customized pane that can be pinned to the program window.

Information includes step-by-step instructions for the various functions available within the program, including a brief overview of what the program does, what setup options are required and how to personalize the program.

  1. Open the program for which you want to insert application help into a customized pane.

    This functionality is only available for a program that has panes.

  2. Right-click any form field.

    You can also click the triangle menu icon that appears in the title area of a pane.

  3. Select Insert Application Help from the context-sensitive menu.

    The application help appears in a pane within your program. You can reposition the pane using the docking stickers or pin it to the program window.

Removing the Application Help pane

If you no longer want to display application help in a pane for your current program, you can simply remove it.

  1. Select the Close icon in the right-hand corner of the application help pane.

  2. Confirm that you want to delete the pane.
