SYSPRO Reporting Services > SRS Themes

SRS Themes

You use themes to change the appearance of reports, making them more readable (e.g. bold headings and colored titles). Themes are accessed from the Setup menu of SYSPRO Reporting Services. A preview pane enables you to see the effect of theme changes applied to your report.

Available Themes

This pane contains the list of themes currently available. These include standard themes that ship with SRS, any customized themes that may have been created, as well as the option to apply no theme to the report.

Customized themes are saved in the \Base\ReportingCustomized\ReportThemes folder on the SYSPRO application server.

Theme Objects

This pane lists all the sections of a report. These sections are further subdivided into objects (e.g. Report Header 1 section contains Text Items and Line Items).

Notes and warnings

Restrictions and limits

  • Using custom themes can lead to report inconsistencies since not all reports use the same sections in the same places. For example: Page Header 2 could announce a series of data on one report but represent column titles on another. Enlarging the font of this header and applying the theme to both reports may cause the column titles of the second report to overlap.

If you are designing a theme for a specific or similar report(s) open the report in Crystal Reports and take note of the different sections and what they represent on the report(s).

Activity considerations

Operator access to the following activities within this program can be restricted. You configure this using the Operator Maintenance program.

Printing considerations

  • Although SRS reports are designed to work on Windows-based printers, you can print them to a dot-matrix printer if you create a theme and ensure that all the fonts are changed to the font supported by the dot-matrix printer. You can select this theme as the default theme for all the reports and prevent operators from changing themes when the reports are processed.
