Design Menus

You use this program to design SYSPRO menus for deployment at various levels (e.g. operator, role, company, group and system-wide).

The menus created here are displayed within the Navigation Pane.

Toolbar and menu

Field Description
New Creates a new menu for deployment.
Change Opens the Menu Item screen to edit the configuration of an existing menu.
Delete Deletes the currently highlighted menu.
Delete Selected Deletes all selected menus.
Copy Copies the currently highlighted menu to another group, operator, role or company.
Close Exits the program.
Convert 6.1 MyMenus

Click this to convery any SYSPRO 6.1 MyMenu menus from being under the personal operator control, to be saved as Operator menu files which can be controlled by the systems administrator.

This toolbar button is not shown by default; select Add or Remove Buttons in order to add this option to the toolbar.

Menu Item

This window is displayed when you select to create a New menu or Change an existing menu.

Field Description
Select a menu option

Select the specific level for which you want to create a menu:

  • System-wide

  • Operator

  • Role

  • Company

  • Group

Caption Assign a title to your menu.
Menu style
Field Description
Task panel

This menu style launches applications as well as navigates to other menus or opens flow graphs from within your menu.

Folders cannot be dragged onto the Task panel. You can only drag individual programs from the main menu onto the Task Panel.

List view

This menu style launches applications from within your menu.

You can add categories to mimic folders that help you group your programs.

Folders an be dragged into menus.

Icon id

Indicates the id of the icon currently assigned to the menu (0 indicates no icon).

Select the Change Icon function to assign an icon to the menu.

Start Designing Menu

Select this to begin designing menus.

The Menu Design Mode in Progress window is displayed.

From within the Navigation Pane, start constructing your menu (e.g. add menu items and categories, rearrange items and categories and customize the appearance of this menu).

Select the Exit Design Mode once you have completed the construction of your menu.

Notes and warnings

Convert 6.1 MyMenus considerations

  • MyMenu files can only be converted after operators have logged into SYSPRO 7 at least once; this is because it is only when an operator logs into SYSPRO 7 for the first time that the MyMenu structure gets converted to a personal menu file.

  • The MyMenu files will be renamed to be OPERATOR_xxxx.MNU and the menu shortcut will be removed from the operator's preference file. When an operator next logs in, the menu will be shown, however it shall no longer be available for modification by the operator.

Operator access to the following activities within this program can be restricted. You configure this using the Operator Maintenance program.
