Copy to Estimate

You use this program to copy operations and/or components from another estimate or a stocked item.

You access the program from the Copy function of the Estimates program.

Toolbar and menu

Field Description
Copy

Select this to begin the copy according to the selections you have made.

[Note]

Only first level components/operations held against the parent stock code are copied.

When you copy materials and/or operations from another estimate, then the custom forms defined against the source estimate's material and/or operations are copied to the new estimate.

When you copy materials and/or operations from a stocked item, and the fields on the BOM operation and/or BOM structure custom form match the fields on the estimate operation and/or estimate structure custom form, then the custom form data defined against the source BOM's material and/or operations are copied to the new estimate.

Close Select this to return to the previous screen.

Copy Options

Copy from  
Source Indicate where the operations and/or components must be copied from.
FieldDescription
EstimateSelect this to copy operations and/or components from another estimate.
Stocked itemSelect this to copy operations and/or components from a made-in stocked item.
Stock code

If the source is an Estimate, then you enter the non-stocked code in this field.

If the source is a Stocked item, then you enter the stocked item code in this field.

Description This indicates the description of the stock code/non-stocked code you entered.
Estimate route If you are copying from another estimate or a stocked item, then the default route is displayed, but can be changed.
BOM route You use this field to indicate the Bill of materials route from which you want to copy materials and operations when copying from a stocked item.
Options  
Copy operations Select this to copy only the operations from another estimate/stocked item.
Copy materials Select this to copy only the materials from another estimate/stocked item.
Copy method
Field Description
Auto Select this to copy the operations and/or components automatically, without viewing details of the items you are copying.
Review

Select this to control of the way in which the operations and/or components are copied.

If you select this option you will be able to select the operations and/or components you want to copy.

Operations

This only applies if you selected to Copy operations.

Field Description
Delete existing before copy Select this to delete the existing components before copying the new components.
Insert new before existing Select this to insert the copied operations before any existing operations.
Add new after existing Select this to add the copied operations after the existing operations.
Run time multiplier

Indicate a multiplier to apply to the unit run time of all operations copied.

If the Copy method is set to Auto, then the multiplier is applied automatically. If the Copy method is set to Review, then the multiplier is used as the default, but can be changed as each operation is copied.

[Note]

This option does not apply when copying subcontract operations.

Materials

This only applies if you selected to Copy materials.

Field Description
Delete existing before copy Select to delete the existing materials before copying the new materials.
Insert only new Select to only insert materials that do not already exist for the estimate
Merge new with existing Select this to merge the existing materials with the new materials that are copied. If you select this option, then you can indicate how the components must be merged.
Quantity per multiplier

Enter a multiplier to apply to all materials copied.

If the Copy options field is set to Auto, then the multiplier is applied automatically. If the Copy options field is set to Review, then the multiplier is used as the default but can be changed as each material component is copied.

[Note]

If you enter a multiplier greater than one and you copy a component which uses fixed quantity per, then the multiplier is only applied to the quantity per and not to the fixed parent quantity. This is irrespective of whether you copy the component from an Estimate, BOM or ASCII file.

Copy Operations

If you are copying operations and you selected the Copy method -Review option, then this screen is displayed when you select the Copy option.

You use this screen to indicate the operations to copy.

Field Description
Copy Operation Select this to copy the current operation to the estimate.
Ignore Operation Select this to ignore the current operation and not copy it to the estimate.
Abandon Copy

Select this to stop the copy process and return to the previous screen.

The operations you selected to copy are displayed and copied.

Operation number This indicates the operation to copy.
Work center This indicates the work center for the operation.
Description This indicates the work center description for operations and the stock code description for stocked and non stocked items for materials.
Unit run time This indicates the unit run time defined against the operation.
Run time multiplier Enter the amount by which the Unit run time must be multiplied for the new estimate.
Hierarchy

Indicate the hierarchy to which the operation must be assigned.

You can use the Hierarchies for Job program to maintain hierarchies.

This is only enabled if you selected the option: Maintain hierarchies (Estimates), and the quotation is a hierarchical quotation (see Quotation Entry).

Copy Materials

If you are copying materials and you selected the Copy method -Review option, then this screen is displayed after you completed the selection of operations to copy.

You use this screen to indicate the materials to copy to the estimate.

Field Description
Copy Material Select this to copy the current material to the estimate.
Ignore Material Select this to ignore the current material and not copy it to the estimate.
Abandon Copy

Select this to stop the copy process and return to the previous screen.

Sequence number This indicates the sequence number for the stock item in the bill of materials.
Stocked code This indicates the material stock code and description of the stock item to copy.
Description This indicates the description for the stock code.
Quantity per This indicates the quantity of the stock code.
Quantity per multiplier

Enter the amount by which the Quantity per must be multiplied for the quantity for the new estimate.

Hierarchy

Indicate the hierarchy to which the allocation must be assigned.

You can use the Hierarchies for Job program to maintain hierarchies.

This is only enabled if you selected the option: Maintain hierarchies (Estimates), and the quotation is a hierarchical quotation (see Quotation Entry).

Notes and warnings

eSignature considerations

Electronic Signatures provide security access, transaction logging and event triggering. This enables you to increase control over your system changes.

Access to the following eSignature transactions within this program can be restricted at Operator, Group, Role or Company level. You configure this using the Electronic Signatures program.
