Counter Sales Cash Drawer Maintenance

You use the Counter Sales Cash Drawer Maintenance program to maintain details of your cash drawers.

The Browse on Cash Drawers program displays details of cash drawers currently defined.

Counter Sales Cash Drawer Maintenance

This screen is displayed when you select the Add or Change option from the Edit menu of the Browse on Cash Drawers program.

  Save Select this to save the details you entered or changed.
  Save and Close Select this to save the details you entered or changed and to return to the previous screen.
  Close Select this to return to the previous screen.
Edit    
  New Select this to add a new cash drawer.
  Delete Select this to delete the cash drawer currently displayed.
New   Select this icon to add a new cash drawer.
Delete   Select this icon to delete the cash drawer currently displayed.
Save   Select this icon to save the details you entered or changed.
Cash Drawer   You use this field to indicate the code of the cash drawer you want to add or maintain.

Counter Sales Cash Drawer Maintenance

Field Value Description
Cash drawer  

You use this field to enter the code of the cash drawer you want to add.

If you are maintaining an existing cash drawer, then this cash drawer code is displayed in this field.

Description  

You use this field to enter a description for the cash drawer you are adding.

If you are maintaining an existing cash drawer, then the description for the drawer is displayed, but can be changed.

Default cash float  

You use this field to indicate the default float value that you will start with each time you use the cash drawer.

This float can be overridden within the Sales Order Entry program.

Hex code to open drawer  

You use this field to enter up to 9 bytes of hexadecimal codes that are required to open the cash drawer automatically.

This hexadecimal code is hardware dependant, so you need to consult the hardware manual for your cash drawer to obtain the correct value for your specific cash drawer.

If you manually open your cash drawer, leave this field blank.

The hexadecimal codes you enter here are sent to the cash drawer each time you print a Counter Sales invoice or if the function to open a drawer is selected at the Customer field (order entry) or Order number field (order maintenance).

[Note]

If you define a hexadecimal code to open the cash drawer and your cash drawer is on the same port as your printer, then you will be unable to preview a document before printing it. This is irrespective of whether or not you selected to preview documents.

The codes are not sent for invoice reprints. If these codes are not defined, an error message is displayed and you will be unable to continue.

Port and device name    
Cash drawer is on same port as printer Select this if the cash drawer is on the same port as the printer.
Name of cash drawer device

You use this field to indicate the name of the device or port to which the cash drawer is connected if it is not on the same port as the printer.

The device name you enter here determines where the hexadecimal codes required to open the cash drawer are sent.

For example:

Under MS-DOS, if your printer is connected to your parallel port and the cash drawer is connected to the serial port, you could enter COM1:

Under UNIX, if you were using a central printer but each terminal had a cash drawer attached, you would enter /dev/tty. As part of the hexadecimal codes to open the cash drawer you will most likely need to include the codes to activate the port on the terminal to which the cash drawer is connected.

Application Help Pane

Application Help Panes provide step-by-step instructions for various functions within the program, including a brief overview of what the program does, what setup options are required and how to personalize the program. The intention is that the pane provides information that is uncluttered and easy to navigate.

You can embed an Application Help Pane:

  • in the main SYSPRO menu

  • in any program with panes, if not using roles

  • when adding a role layout in Design Mode.

Inserting Application Help

You would typically follow this procedure to display help for the current program in a customized pane that can be pinned to the program window.

Information includes step-by-step instructions for the various functions available within the program, including a brief overview of what the program does, what setup options are required and how to personalize the program.

  1. Open the program for which you want to insert application help into a customized pane.

    This functionality is only available for a program that has panes.

  2. Right-click any form field.

    You can also click the triangle menu icon that appears in the title area of a pane.

  3. Select Insert Application Help from the context-sensitive menu.

    The application help appears in a pane within your program. You can reposition the pane using the docking stickers or pin it to the program window.

Removing the Application Help pane

If you no longer want to display application help in a pane for your current program, you can simply remove it.

  1. Select the Close icon in the right-hand corner of the application help pane.

  2. Confirm that you want to delete the pane.
