WIP Employee Efficiency

You use this program to generate a report listing month-to-date values processed for a range of selected employees from entries made in the Labor Posting program.

The report is aimed at assisting you in measuring the efficiency of your employees.

You typically generate the report at month end to compare the time you expected the employee/work center to work (standard time) and the actual time spent working (earned + non-productive). The report indicates the utilization of the resource and its efficiency and when run at month end, the lost time for the month.

Report Details

The entry made at the Quantity completed field of the Labor Posting program is used to calculate the standard hours earned. It is added to the work center efficiency record for the period, month and year-to-date columns. It is also added to the machine and employee month-to-date columns.

The following columns are included on the report:

  • Standard time earned

(MTD-ERN) = (quantity completed for the operation / quantity to make) x total time required for the operation

  • Actual time earned

    (MTD-ACT) = Time posted

  • Non-productive earned

(MTD-NON) = Time posted if non-productive code entered

  • Standard time

(STD-HRS) = Entered time expected per month.

Calculations

The following indicate the calculations included for columns in this report:

  • Lost time = Capacity available - Standard hours earned - Non-productive hours

  • Actual Productive Time = Total hours posted where the Non-productive code was blank or not entered

  • % Productive utilization = (Standard hours earned / Capacity available) x 100

  • % Total Utilization = ((Standard hours earned + Non-productive hours) / Capacity available) x 100

  • % Efficiency = (Standard hours earned / Actual productive hours) x 100

  • Standard time earned = (quantity completed for the operation / quantity to make) x total time required for the operation

  • Actual time earned = Time posted

  • Non-productive earned = Time posted if non-productive code entered

  • Standard time = Entered time expected per month
