You use this program to allocate serial numbers to serialized stock items when you accept them into stock, scrap them or send them for rework.
This screen is displayed if the serial tracking method defined against the stock item is Manual (Stock Code Maintenance - Tracking tab).

Serial number |
Indicate the serial number you want to capture for the item. You can allocate the same serial numbers to different stock codes when setup option: Same serial to be used for multiple stock codes is enabled (Inventory Setup - Options tab). When you allocate serial numbers to items scrapped, sent for rework or accepted into stock, you can only allocate serial numbers that were taken into WIP inspection at the time of receipting the job (see Job Receipts). |
Select Available Serials |
Select this to automatically allocate serial numbers to items scrapped, sent for rework or accepted into stock. The program allocates serial numbers starting from the first serial number that is in a status of Inspect. You can view serial number information for the item by using the Browse icon at the Serial number field. |

Indicate the date on which the serial number expires. If an expiry date was defined against the serial when it was received into inspection, then that date is the default displayed. This field is disabled when selecting serials to scrap or rework. |
Location |
Indicate the location of the serialized item. If a location was defined against the serial when it was received into inspection, then that location is the default displayed. This field is disabled when selecting serials to scrap or rework. |
Add | Select this to add the serial number(s) to the list of serial numbers to allocate. |
Remove | Select this to delete the currently highlighted serial number from the list of serial numbers to allocate. |
Remaining serial numbers | This indicates the number of serial numbers that must still be allocated. |
Accept Entries | Select this to accept the serial numbers you entered. |
Cancel | Select this to ignore any information you entered and to return to the previous screen. |
This screen is displayed if the Serial tracking method defined against the stock item is Batch (Stock Code Maintenance - Tracking).
You can add the accepted quantity to an existing serial number when the stock item is batch serialized and the option: Multiple batch serial receipts allowed is enabled (Inventory Setup – Options tab),

Expiry date |

You are only requested to enter serial numbers when you accept the item into stock when the setup option: Capture serials at end of WIP inspection is enabled (WIP Setup - General 1 tab). You are not requested to enter serial numbers for items sent for rework or scrapped.
Serial numbers are not requested if the option: Record serial numbers is set to During order entry against the stock item (Stock Code Maintenance - Tracking).
You can only reserve the same serial numbers for different stock codes when the setup option: Same serial to be used for multiple stock codes is enabled (Inventory Setup - Options tab). This applies if you selected to reserve serials for parent items or for allocations (WIP Setup - Lots and Serials tab).
