You use this program to review and update live blanket purchase orders that require corrective action to meet planned demand.
Reviewing material purchasing requirements is an ongoing activity undertaken by buyers to ensure that they are meeting the material requirements plan generated during each planning interval. In the case of Blanket Purchase Order (BPO) contracts, it involves comparing the current releases on the live contract against what is needed at the relevant dates and making the necessary adjustments, if possible and within the terms of the BPO contract.

Field | Description |
---|---|
Apply Changes | Select this to update your live blanket purchase orders with the changes displayed in the listview. |
Cumulative quantities | Select this to display quantities on a cumulative basis as the date increases, instead of the individual quantities for each date line. |
Column | Description |
---|---|
On order | Indicates the quantity on the live Blanket Purchase order for the selected stock item. |
MRP suggested | The suggested quantity to purchase is based on the demand for the item, but may change depending on the batching rule defined against the item (Stock Code Maintenance). |
Recommended |
This is a comparison between what is on order on the same date and what is suggested. For example: The BPO is for a purchase of 200 on 21/07/05, but the MRP suggested is only for 150. The recommended quantity on order will be 150. If this is within the fixed period or past due, then the current order quantity always becomes the recommended. Otherwise the suggested quantity usually becomes the recommended. |
Accum short/over |
This indicates the net value, calculated as what is required (pegging), offset against the suggested blanket purchase order. For example: If there is a quantity of 10 in the MRP Suggested column and the Minimum order quantity is 15, then a quantity of 15 is displayed in this column. If there is a quantity of 10 in the MRP Suggested column and the Minimum order quantity is 5, then a quantity of 10 is displayed in this column. A negative value in this column indicates that no valid contract currently exists or your demand exceeds the available quantity of the contract. For example, if you have a demand for 100 and 80 available on the contract, then this column will display -20 as you are 20 units short of demand. A negative value may be due to the contract having expired (date), or the supplier being on hold, or the contract quantity having been reached, etc. |
Received | This indicates the quantity received since the Purchase Order Review was run and includes any receipts processed up to the time you run the Blanket Purchase Order Review program, providing you selected the option: Quantity received since calculation before selecting the Start Review option. |
The requirements calculation runs through the blanket purchase order header file and reads in all the blanket purchase orders associated with a contract type of Call-off single which are not defined as being a Fixed contract. This effectively suppresses suggested requisitions from being displayed in the Purchase Order Review program and instead passes them to the Blanket Purchase Order Review program. If there is demand for items which are linked to these blanket purchase orders, then the purchase order lines are removed and the program creates new blanket purchase order lines as suggested requisitions in accordance with the required supply.
Existing Blanket Purchase Order (in the live system) are matched to any suggestions and maps the changes required.
All supplies that are past due and all scheduled supplies that fall within the days defined at the Firm period for MRP review (Days) option against the contract (Contract Maintenance) are accumulated. These schedules are not changed. Any supply outside of this firm period is created as a new scheduled release, or, if a scheduled release already exists it is adjusted according to demand.
When new schedules, or purchase order lines, are created the program reads in the minimum order quantity from the contract and never creates a scheduled release for a quantity less than this. (i.e. where a suggested requisition is for a quantity less than that specified as the minimum against the contract, the contract minimum is used).
See also Notes and warnings.
Because blanket purchase order header and detail files are not copied to the snapshot files, any changes made within this program immediately updates your live data.
The Blanket Purchase Order Review program does not recognize a blanket purchase order until after you make the first purchase order release using the Blanket Purchase Order Release program.
You can only review blanket purchase orders with a contract type of Call-off single that are not defined as Fixed. To view suggested requisitions for fixed contract Blanket Purchase orders, you use the Purchase Order Review program.
Blanket purchase orders are automatically released when the Automatically release contract option is enabled against the Blanket Purchase Order contract (Contract Maintenance) and you are running the Blanket Purchase Order Review in automated mode.
