Maintain Hold Status

You use this program to maintain the hold status of a stock item.

Maintain Hold Status

Field Description
Status
Hold status Placing a stock code on hold enables you to limit which transactions can be processed against it (i.e. prevent it from being bought, sold, or manufactured).
Partial hold
  • Allows any transaction type to be processed against the item using the Inventory Movements program.

  • Allows the receipt of an item using the Purchase Order Receipts program (if you use the Receive Quantity option but not the Receipt All option).

  • Prevents new backorder quantities of an item in the Sales Order Entry program. However, if a backorder quantity existed before the item was placed on partial hold, then you can ship the entire quantity if you have stock available.

  • Prevents the placement of new purchase orders for the item. If the item exists on an existing purchase order before it was placed on partial hold, then you will be unable to change the quantity for the item on that purchase order.

  • Prevents the placement of new purchase order requisition for the item.

You typically place an item on partial hold if you are in the process of discontinuing the item, but you want to be able to sell or otherwise dispose of the quantity you currently have in stock.

Full hold

Prevents transactions from being processed against the item, with the following exceptions:

  • The Stock Take Confirmation program ignores the hold status of a stock item. Stock items on full hold can, however, be excluded from a stock take (see Stock Take Selection).
  • An item that is in Ship on a sales order (at the time of putting the item on hold) can still be invoiced.

  • Items are included in the Requirements Calculation and in the pegging information, but you cannot raise purchase orders or create jobs.

  • Forecasts can still be entered for the item, using the Forecast Maintenance program.

  • Build schedules can still be created for the item using the Build Schedule Maintenance program.

Release hold Releases a hold that has been placed on a stock item.
Reason code

Enter a code to describe the reason for the hold. If entered, the code must exist (Browse on Reason Codes).

Reason code description Indicates the description defined against the selected reason code.
